How do I upload my Files?
You can upload your files with a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program.  Our advice for Windows users is the program Cute FTP . This is shareware which means that you can us the program for 30 days. When this trial period expires, you may use it by buying it. 

How do I use FTP to upload my files ? 
After starting the FTP program you click on the button "New". You will see the following screen:

The following variables can be entered by the user.
Site label :
The name of your site (free choice)
Host address:
The IP-ADDRESS given by the service provider
User Name:
Fill in your user name given by the service provider
Password:
Fill in your password given by the service provider
FTP connection port:
Fill in 21 which is the port you must use.

To upload your files, click on the name of the site you want to upload to. Next click on "Connect". If everything went okay there will now be a connection with the virtual server.

Cute-FTP opens automatic a confirmationscreen which shows the message: "LOGIN MESSAGES", click on the button  "OK" to continue. Now you will see the following screen, this is where the actual upload will begin.

As you can see the screen is  into two different parts: 
The left side contains the directories and files on your local computer, your harddisk.
The right side contains the directories and files on the webserver. 
You must upload your HTML pages into the "httpdocs" directory.
Simply "drag and drop" the files you want to upload.
Click in the left side of the screen the file you want to upload, hold down your mousebutton and move your mousecursor to the right side of the screen.

You must remind that your main page (the page which is shown when somebody enters http://www.yourcompany.com in their browser) needs a special name.
You must use the following name: index.html

Hereby a short description of the other directories.
bin, pd : those are "system" directories, don't worry about them.
cgi-bin : here you can upload your CGI scripts. 
cgi-bin : We have pre-installed already 15 CGI scripts for easy use.
logs     : this directory contains your LOG file.
